CPA Celebrates with Manufacturers as British Output Rises

10th January 2018.

A light is seen at the end of the tunnel as last November marked the eighth consecutive month of increased factory output. Here at The Credit Protection Association we have many members from the manufacturing sector and will look forward to helping them maintain their winning streak.

According to new data from the Office for National Statistics, UK factories increased their output for the eighth consecutive month in November, as many benefited from a broad upswing in the global economy.

Manufacturing output was 1.4 percent higher in the final quarter of 2017 than earlier in the year.

The increased factory output has helped drive growth in overall industrial production, from mines, quarries, the oil and gas industry, and energy plants.

Among manufacturers, the fabrication of machinery and equipment provided the largest contribution to growth, with the production of boats, planes and cars also seeing an increase.

Construction industry data was less positive, showing a 2 percent contraction in the final quarter of last year. It marked the sixth successive month of decline, the biggest contraction since August 2012.

With business confidence still at a low, the strong output within the manufacturing sector will hopefully give business the boost it needs. To drive this growth, we encourage suppliers to keep up-to-date with customers and their payment trends and pay close attention to your own close flow. The sector cannot continue to flourish without your products and services, so it’s your duty to protect your business. Reach out to CPA for advice or help!
