London Trading Standards, Councils and health professionals are joining forces to stage a series of awareness-raising roadshows in locations across London this month to highlight the harm caused by the sale of illegal or cheap tobacco.
The roadshows will feature sniffer dogs to help start conversations with residents, during which they will be told how to identify illegal tobacco and where to report it.
It is estimated that criminals are making more than £100m pa from the London illegal tobacco trade, with a third of smokers saying they were offered illegal tobacco last year.
In addition to providing access to roadshow dates and venues throughout the month, ‘Illegal tobacco roadshows’ also links to advice on identifying illegal tobacco and a page for reporting consumer crime.
