Here at CPA, no debt is too small to care about. And we have a long reach.

Back in January 2014 a Member in the Plant Hire sector asked us to chase a small debt of just £400 debt. The debtor was one of the small minority (14%) that did not respond to our unique Overdue Account Recovery Service that is available to members. We then invited the member to instruct us to take further action and the member agreed and collection of the debt was passed to our Litigation department.

The debtor was a private individual. A claim was issued and Judgment was awarded in our Members favour. The Member however decided not to risk any additional costs by sending in bailiffs to enforce the Judgment. However the unsatisfied County Court judgment (CCJ) was on the debtors record.

A few years went by and I think everyone had just about forgotten about it. But suddenly, out of the blue, the debtor has contacted our retained solicitors as they were unable to obtain credit due to the CCJ. The result? The debtor has now paid the full debt amount plus the costs and interest. The payment is now being processed and will be with our Member within days.

We normally resolve things a bit quicker than that but it is good to see the system finally work and another debtor finally having to pay up.

If they had just paid up earlier they could have avoided all those added costs and interest.
