Proposed reforms to the electronic communication code which, among other things, will make it easier for network operators to rollout phone masts, exchanges, cabinets and other infrastructure on public and private land also placed obligations on Ofcom to publish

  • a Code of Practice to accompany the proposed changes to the electronic communications code
  • a number of template notices which must be used by Code operators and landowners/occupiers
  • standard terms which may (but need not) be used by Code operators and landowners or occupiers when negotiating agreements to confer Code rights

The proposals to reform the electronic communications code were included in the Digital Economy Bill, which was brought before parliament last July and is shortly expected to complete its journey into law.

‘Electronic Communications Code’ seeks views on the three draft documents, which are particularly significant to network operators and landowners.
