It will be legally permissible to use modern electronic technologies to replace paper communications and physical meetings in insolvency procedures after 6 April, when ‘The Insolvency (England and Wales) Rules 2016’ will implement changes made to the Insolvency Act 1986 by the Deregulation Act 2015 and the Small Business, Enterprise and Employment Act 2015.

The new rules – which set out the conduct of insolvency proceedings – have also been restructured, translated into gender-neutral language and consolidated with the 28 amending regulations made since the Insolvency Rules 1986 were brought into force.

‘List of insolvency forms from 6 April 2017’ and ‘Companies House forms’ provide information on the new forms that will be required for the new procedures.
