Professional jobs rise 7%

The number of professional jobs available in the UK has risen by 7% in the last three months, as employers seek out skilled workers to smooth the transition out of the EU.
According to recruitment company Robert Walters, growth was strongest in supply chain accounting and procurement roles. The number of jobs available compared to last year was 15% and 13% higher respectively. The recruiter said this was driven by the need to work out new ways of trading with overseas firms in light of changes to Britain’s trade agreements.
Employers seem to be cautiously optimistic, and professional activity has remained “healthy” across all professional sectors this year, Robert Waters’ chief executive added.
These figures come just weeks after reports that Britain is experiencing an employment boom, with record numbers of people at work and unemployment rates at their lowest in 42 years.
According to the Office for National Statistics, employment grew in every region of the UK except for the north east of England last year.
