Business Owners; Brexit is Not The End!
11th January 2018.
Many sectors within the UK are still uncertain on what the post-Brexit landscape will look like, and none are as confused, and nervous, as the financial sector. Many business leaders are feeling left in the dark, and we have had to reassure our Members that it will not be all doom and gloom after next year.
In a positive step for our Members, and for our own clarification as well, Nicky Morgan, chairwoman of the Commons Treasury committee has finally called out Brexit secretary David Davis for not providing some such “blueprint” for the post-Brexit landscape.
The call has been taken up by the City of London, the Law Society of England and business group London First, together representing thousands of firms and professional bodies.
Chairwoman Nicky Morgan insists that those working in the services sector deserve to know what the ministers plan for them after Brexit. Ms Morgan demands a Government paper on services, including financial services.
Jasmine Whitbread, chief executive of London First, warns that firms will leave the capital if they do not get clearer guidance. A recent report by recruiter Morgan Mckinley found that jobs in the capital fell by 52 percent last month.
Chancellor Philip Hammond and Mr Davis have provided local businesses with some insight, as they warn British firm that operating licences for the EY may lapse after Brexit.
Since June 2016 Brexit has been on the tip of every businessman’s tongue throughout the UK. What effect will Brexit have on my trade? What can I do about it? Is there any hope for my business? As a credit management company, we offer more than debt collection or debt recovery, we offer expert advice.
We have urged our Members to start preparations early. We recommend organising paperwork to prepare for any changes in legislation, keep customers sweet to keep them away from European competitors, and most importantly continue as before. Brexit is a pain, but it is not an excuse to jump ship. The UK, and in particular, London, is still one of the most lucrative places to do business, so take advantage of it.
